I run an smf website at www.freegist.com.
But I want to edit the look of the website.
I know some Css
I downloaded an smf 2.0.2 installer.
I run it on my laptop and I set it up on localhost
So
I want to know if I can edit the index.css file of the Installer theme I am using on localhost
So dat after the tweaks I can upload it to my server and replace the index.css on the live host
So and
I want to know how to upload it back to host.

I need ur help.

Am waiting.....

Thanks.

Assuming that I've understood what you want to do...

Have you heard of FTP?

Storman™:
Just to clarify, have you actually got SMF up and running on your laptop ?

If not, consider something like VertrigoServ which will allow you to run the required components like apache, php, and mysql locally on your laptop.

Once you have done your "tweeks" then simply FTP the file up to your remote website location (as K@ suggests).

thanks @k,

I know how to use normal ftp,
How to upload normally a website to the live server,

But what I want to ask is that can I just edit that file index.css from the installer I downloaded frm smf on the localhost and upload it to overwrite to the one on the live server.

Or would I have to go to my live server and download the one index.css already there,
Then bring it to the local host to edit.

Am waiting....

K@:
It depends, doesn't it?

The one on your site may have already been edited, if you installed a mod, say.

If that's the case, you'll need to edit the one on-site.

If you get the one from the install archive and upload it, any edits that mod-installations may have made will be lost.
