Real Name on Registration Page

(1/2) > >>

Hey all,

I apologize for this post but I am a neebie to both this form as well as the as itself....

Is there a way to force users (I know, they will still be able to enter what ever they wish) to enter their real names when they register?  They can use what ever username they wish, but I need to be able to search and verify that these people are actually members of our organization as this will be a closed board.  If their name does not jive with our membership list we can nuke them at that point and send an email saying sorry but....

I am running version 2.0.2

Thanks in advance folks

Admin -> Core Features -> Advanced Profile Fields - enable.

Admin -> Features and Options -> Profile Fields - create required profile field.

Thanks Krash, I found this, but like I said - I'm a neebie and about as dumb as dirt when it comes to this.  I managed to get the forum up and running (not published) yet but adding a custom filed is almost like building a car  :-[  Any other help sure would be appreciated.

Ok, first you have to enable Advanced Profile Fields in Core Features - it comes out of the box disabled.

Then you go into Features and Options, and you'll see Profile Fields up top.  It shows you Standard Profile Fields and below that, Custom Profile Fields.  Click New Field and you'll be at Add Profile Field.

 - Name: - 'Real Name'

 - Profile Section: - 'None' (there's no reason for member to edit it)

 - Show on Registration: - 'Yes, and require entry'

 - Choose Placement: - 'Standard (with title)'

 - Privacy: - 'This field is only visible to admins'

 - Searchable: - unchecked

 - Active: - checked

You can play with the settings, but this should do what you want.

Karsh I bow to you.  Thank you so much!
