Change Packages directory path

(1/3) > >>

andrea404:
Hello,
I'm writing cause I need to change the directory of packages.
Unfortunately on my provider I've just one directory writable and I cannot change the permission of the other.
I can transfer the files with ftp where I want, but the application cannot write in all directory, just in "public".

This is my dir struct:

--public
-- forum
    -- Packages
    -- Source
    -- ...

I would like to set SMF for to install package in public directory.
There is a parameter like in avatar, themes... or I have to change the source codes?

I've transfered my package manually with FTP in "packages" directory, when I push "install mod" from admin panel it fails.

Any suggests?

Thanks

I'm confused as to why this is the case as you should be able to change it ?

It's not a free SMF hosting account where you can't change anything, or something like that is it ?

Which directory is the one thats writable ? Is it "public" ?

If so , then forum should be a sub-directory within it.

andrea404:
my provider has this limitation, only folder called "public" is writable for the application that you host.

Storman™:
Thats fine (and quite normal), but your forum structure needs to be as subfolders of "public".

Is that the case ?  Your directory structure above wasn't that clear.

andrea404:
you're right, I can try this solution!! many thanks!!!
