Upgrading a broken SMF forum

<< < (2/3) > >>

Arantor:
Hardly surprising it couldn't be found, /news2/index.php&theme=1 is not a file that's present.

Try /news2/index.php?theme=1

CapadY:
Forum is shown, only the theme isn't taken up. So I am pretty sure it's a settings problem.

I've send you a PM

agcornell:
I'm going through every single folder in the themes folder and changing the permissions settings.

It looks like I'm going to have to do this for everything folder by folder. :/ No changes to the look yet but still a fair way to go.

Folders: 755 Files: 655. Previously they are reading: 644

Will continue.

MrPhil:
Files should never be 655. They should be 644 (unless you want read-only, which is normally 444).

Use the "find" command to change all folders at the same time, and all files at the same time.

I think you should have fixed the 1.1.11 forum first, then upgraded to 2.0.2.

agcornell:
Thanks for that MrPhil. Will change - and thanks for the file tip.

I was hoping that the upgrade would overwrite how the themes were being handled. It looks the same as before the upgrade even though everything is otherwise 'working'.

I noted that in other areas using FileZilla can treat files without extensions as ASCII files. I've been doing binary ftp transfer to avoid that, using a different FTP program. I'm wondering if maybe there was a pre-existing condition that got brought over?
