Possible to upgrade MySQL database from SMF1 to SMF2?

(1/1)

zeldAIS:
The main forums I'm using is SMF v1.1.5. I copied, installed and upgraded the exact same forums along with its database to another subdomain of our site and upgraded the copy into SMF v2.0.2.

As I already have many plans on adding stuff in there (like a completely different portal to be used compared to the original one and other stuff that will be using API), I just plan to just change the directory of the main site to point to a different directory along with using repair_settings.php.

As the current SMF v1.1.5 is still used everyday, the database is still changing.  The copied & upgraded SMF v2.0.2 is more or less under production until the addons I'm working on is done.

My question is that, is there a way where the database at the currently being used SMF v1.1.5 be copied to the v2.0.2 that is currently being tweaked? Once it is done, the v1.1.5 will not be used and the v2.0.2 will be used. Would it be alright to ask how to change the database of SMF v.1.1.5, upgrade the tables to be compatible to v2.0.2?

You need to go down the same route you did before, you'll need to put the 1.1.x forum into maintenance mode and then run an upgrade to bring it up to 2.0.2, this is the easiest way to do it.

Thanks for the response ziycon! Ah. I see the procedure now. So basically what I will do is something like this:
1> make the 1.1.x into maintenance mode
2> upgrade the 1.1.x into 2.0.2
3> redirect the upgraded database into the finished 2.0.2 / download the upgraded database and recoordinate with the 2.0.2

Thanks for the tip!
