Restoring data to a profile after it was a Guest?
Chassy13:
Alright, I finally just won the battle against bots by making simple questions to be answered. Anyway, as I was deleting the accounts I accidentally deleted some of my active forumers. One of them came back and registered again under the same name, but all of his data (posts, arcade scores, etc.) was not returned. Now there is a Pharos that is a guest, and also a Pharos that is a regular account.
Is there any way to fix this and restore the past data to his new account? My version of SMF is 2.0.1.
Arantor:
Restoring posts is easy enough, there's a tool for it in the admin panel in Admin > Maintenance > Members.
Restoring other data is not so easy, assuming it is even possible (and it may not be at that), but start off with posts.
Chassy13:
Alright, thanks for the reply. I was not aware of that tool. My post problem is now fixed.
The only other data that I would like to recover is for the Arcade, that's about the only other data that was lost. It seems weird that I can't assign that data in the same way.
I'm using the E-Arcade. Any ideas on how I could add this data? Or, just plain out delete the Guest from the highscores?
Arantor:
It's not weird at all: SMF itself can't reassign data it knows nothing about (and the arcade is an extension, as such the extension would be expected to deal with it)
If the guest is listed in the high scores, odds are it didn't delete anything, just that it doesn't have the new user account to link to, but without knowing more about the arcade (I have never looked at E-Arcade) I can't tell you how to modify the database directly to point to the new user account.
Chassy13:
Yeah, everything must be extension-sided, because the same guy was also the leader of highscores but is not assigned yet. I looked through the E-arcade databases and could not find anything that is allowing that to be written. I guess the whole Guest thing confuses me. Why wouldn't it just delete the score entirely?
I think I'll just wipe the entire highscore list and have my members start over. It won't be that big of a deal.
I have another question though related to IP addresses being viewed, should I create a new topic or just use this one? Basically I'm wondering if there is a modification or a simple edit to make it so moderators cannot view the IP addresses of members, only administrators can.
