Can a 1.16 Database be converted to work with 2.x
iexcursion:
Yesterday my website got hit with a major virus making everything even my forums give everyone a virus but thats not really why im here. I was wondering if I did a clean install of 2.0.2 on my server would there be any way to use my database from the old version of smf 1.1.16.
I did a clean install on my web server and pointed the database path to the old database but when the screen refreshed it said bad variable name 'names'. So is there a script I can run to make the old db work with the new files or do I have to reinstall 1.1.16 then do the upgrade from there.
Im trying to save time because im in the United States and my server is in Germany. Takes a long time to FTP.
Illori:
use the large upgrade package and run upgrade.php

Will this fix the problems that the virus caused if I used it on my old files? Or are you saying fresh install the 1.1.16 then do the large upgrade?
Oldiesmann:
Replace all of the 1.1.16 files with those from the 2.0 upgrade package, then run upgrade.php. Take a look at the "Upgrading SMF" link that Illori posted above.

I'm uploading the files now. My only concern is that I can't login to my forums since the attack. What it feels like to me is that my forums lost contact with my database. Do you all think this should fix that? I guess I’m just being impatient.
