What in the crap is going on?!

[Unknown]:
Okay, this is why I'm planning on migrating to Windows Server 2003.  Now, when I start Media Player or Internet Explorer, I get this message:

--- Quote ---wmplayer.exe/iexpore.exe - Corrupt File
The file or directory \AutoExec.Bat is corrupt and unreadable.
Please run the Chkdsk utility.
--- End quote ---

While I'm happy to oblige, it wouldn't do any good because I don't *have* an autoexec.bat.  Is this a virus or something?!  I'm scanning now, but... weird....

is this on XP??
I have not seen that yet, so they say some mp3's have viri, but you dont download do you?
what os are you on?

[Unknown]:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional.  I don't download mp3's, and only started Media Player on accident.  (didn't even play anything, it's just that I still have it on my Quick Launch and it's next to Internet Explorer.)

It's a bubble in the bottom.  And it happens EVERY TIME I start a new process of iexplore.exe or wmplayer.exe.

I think its worth a bash doing what it says. Restarting it into chkdsk and let it do an automatic scandisk, if you haven't already.

charlottezweb:
Did you install your XP over an older OS by any chance?
