Error message on registration

I've been making some changes to my forum at http://www.virtualassistantsgroup.net relating to the email welcome message that should go out to new members. For some reason it's just not going out.

I was making changes to the EmailTemplates.English.php file.  I am sure I've removed all edits and reuploaded the existing file but now when I do a test registration I get an error message. It just says an Error has occurred and to go back, but doesn't say what the error is.

How do I find out what the error is so I can fix it please?

Can you log back in and check the error log on your site? That might provide some guidance.

kathiemt:
Thanks, I'm not used to thinking about things like that  :)

It says:  Unable to verify referring url.  Please go back and try again.

What does that mean exactly? I just keyed in the URL, clicked on Register and filled out the form. I didn't fill everything out, just a username, password, my gender, country and the captcha code.

So what mods have been added that affect registration?

Nothing new. It was working fine. I made a change the the language template but then put things back again. I must have stuffed something up.  I'll need to go find the original file perhaps and reupload that maybe.  I was trying to edit the welcome email message that goes out to the new members and then tested that but never got a message anyway, which I found annoying.  I wanted to personalise it, so something isn't working as it should.
