The theme parts/experiments from it will live on though, but taking on a full fork was more than I had time for, unfortunately. Your best bet now for any alternatives to SMF would be Wedge - or waiting for smCore to run with a forum module.

k, what about EoS?

What about it? Do you want my opinion of it..?

I read what you said (in another topic) about working on the things YOU feel most motivated to work on.
That makes a lot of sense.
All the best in your new venture!

Thank you. :) Its not all about time..but also about setting up hope and anticipation for something that isn't nearly ready for public use. I was too optimistic, and should have followed Nao's advice from the start(that is, work in the back until something IS ready for the public). Suffice to say I have Blocweb to break things on 8) ..so its that arena I will be playing for now.

I hope you'll have better time one day for all this. ;)
But life firstly, of course. ;)

I agree with this. I wish you all the best in your real life bloc. Though if you wish to start something like this, do it in a group. It is better since some other people might want to help you finish it properly.

Indeed. Though, I am not sure other people see the goals I have for it..and therefore it won't work so good to let others in perhaps. Maybe a fork is too much, and a mod is better in the longer run. I don't know..what I do know is that I wanted a very specific direction for it, as a fork that was perfectly acceptable I would think. So, as said, better to work in the back and stop making promises.
I can say however, that I feel all the current or planned forks are a clear indication that SMF2 is a inspiration - but that it also feels like it cannot move any further without key changes.
AngelinaBelle:
The interesting thing about all the forks is to find out what some of the most talented coders think is most necessary for and "SMF2-like thing".
Each of this forks is slightly different from the direction the team has taken working toward SMF 2.1.
But each of these ideas can have their effect on the development of smCore, which will be the basis for SMF 3.0 and related apps.
So, when you share your vision for the guts and/or appearance of BlocWeb, or a fork like eos or wedge, you can influence the future of SMF.
Not only that, with the change to the GIT repository, the SMF code is out there for all to see, and there will be the opportunity to contribute significantly to smCore and SMF3, as well as to the SMF 2 line, even from those who don't currently wish to join the SMF team.
It's a new way of working for SMF, but I think everyone is trying to get the hang of it.

Well..I am not sure I can agreed wholly on that, though you may be right in the assumption. SmCore will be quite another beast than SMF. But one of the things that is inspiring with SMF2 is the actual coding, the relatively easy to follow logic and perhaps not using OOP. Maybe its just me that feel that way - but the idea of modules that may or may not be made in addition to a new way of programming(said OOP), isn't very tempting atm. It implies that you have to write the key components yourself - but then you might just as well do a fork since the key components are exactly what SMF2 has right now.
And for me that is just the case. :) I like to explore things within the area that SMF as forum software covers now, I don't really want a CMS with modules. Or rather..I don't have time to wait for something that *could* go in the direction I like to explore, when there is a base that lend itself well to it NOW.
Thats not saying smCore won't catch on - I hope it does.
