Description
Subject pretty much explains it. Looking for a mood mod where members can set their mood in the profile and posting profile.

Permissions
Set by the the admin to either enable or disable.Could be board wide or usegroup either or is fine.A simple  drop down menu with the mood images or text in the users forum profile.Admin side the ability to ad mood images or text but probably images would be best. I know VBulletin  and xenforo and phpbb3 has this available as mod as well.Not sure about mybb.

I think alot of forums could use this.

Big question: setting it potentially every post (and thus storing it every post) or just setting one master 'mood' for the member in their profile that they can update?

If it's the latter, that's almost exactly what custom profile fields are for (though they don't have an 'update on posting' facility)

It's a little mood image  that would show under you avatar. It's bigger the social media icons though so would need it's own line.
I attached an image to show the size.

You didn't respond to the question, if you change your mood on a message, the mood will change only in that message or will change on every message you have?

Sorry It would change on every post.
