Can i stop bot or spam to my website

I try to use hard captcha from smf function in register but spam can registry and post topic in my website.

what should i do?

For smf 2.x go to admin panel>Security and Moderation>Anti-Spam Verification>Verification Questions add something like Q= 3+5 ? or sky color is ? etc
Check registration settings for example Require user to activate the account, Method of registration employed for new members=Email Activation (Recommended)
Also StopForumSpam mod is very useful...
