Is there anyway to add this to the post template?
Aaron Nelsen:
Okay, I need to be able to have a list of users (about 12) from which I can select which of them "posted" a topic.
See, I run a newsletter and when the newsletter goes out I have to post all the articles myself and then go into the database and change each one to reflect who actually wrote the article.
So, I'm wondering if I can add a drop down menu to the post screen that I would be able to pick a name from and have it update the database that way.
Thanks in advance.
Aaron Nelsen:
Does any one have any idea how to do this? I'm completely lost.
Cypher7:
ok... I dont really understand what you want to do... well, kinda!
what form is the newsletter? email, on the board, on your site? On the board Im guessing...
So you're gonna post some articles, but want it to look like someone else posted them? Is it!?
sorry I still dont really get it... but thats cos its 1am and I need sleep...!!
Aaron Nelsen:
You got the basic idea...
See, I'm the only one on our staff that's up at 1 AM when I put hte newsletter out, and its too much work to have each person post their articles themselves at that hour, so I post them all.
However, because I post them all, they all appear to be written by me. So I have to go into the database and change the ID_MEMBER field for each post to the ID number of the user who actually wrote it.
What I want is something on the post screen like this...
[Select Author]
--Author 1
--Author 2
--Author 3
--Author 4
--Author 5
and if I select author 1 it will update the ID_MEMBER field in the MySQL from 1 (my member ID) to 5 (the member ID of author 1)
And yes the newsletter is intergrated into the forum.

I know what you're asking and had also requested something similar for my board at YSE. No one was willing to take on the mod. Have you considered just registering another member name using the name of the newsletter and then in each post give credit to the actual author?
