You can go from your current version to the latest version of 1.x then take another full backup of the files and database then upgrade to the latest version of 2.x.

I would recommend that you uninstall any mods you have and take note of any customisations prior to any upgrades as the current mods most likely wont work on 2.x and you'll need to get the updated version of the mods for 2.x (if they exist).

The main thing is, once you take backups you'll be fine as you can always roll back.

That has me very afraid. I tried going from 1.1.4 to 1.1.10 and had nothing but trouble. The upgrade seemed to go smoothly and the forum "came up" but it wasn't possible to make any posts. I asked for assistance here and after many weeks of trying with days between responses I gave up and went back to 1.1.4. :-(

Doctor Deejay:
If you want me to do the upgrade for you, then please send me your FTP details, make backups of both the database and files and I'll upgrade your forum for you. :)

It's been a while and I just worked up the courage to try an upgrade. Since I own the servers the software is running on I made a copy of the database and forum. The existing version was 1.1.4 and I tried to do an upgrade to version 2.0.2 and right away I got a critical error about the script.js file being missing or out of date. I checked and there was such a file so I decided that with nothing to lose I would go ahead and try the upgrade anyhow. It looked like things were working but then I got an "unknown error" during upgrade script 1 of 2.

Thinking that I might have been trying to jump to many upgrade in one hop I deleted the backups and setup another test. This time I went to 1.1.16 and that happened without any issues. I then tried to go to 2.0.2 again and got the same errors?

Anyone know what this "script.js" file that the 2.0.2 upgrade is looking for and where I may go about finding  a version that'll work with 1.1.16 and 2.0.2?

Not entirely sure of what I did but I managed to finish the conversion.
