[FREE] Descendant's Last Post

(1/3) > >>

Version
2.0.X (Preferably 2.0.2+)

Description
I went through the modifications for SMF and found this and basically it counts and adds all of the posts/topics in the board's
descendants as before it wouldn't count too deep in board descendants. Now I'm wondering if it's possible to get something
similar to this but instead, to have the last post being made visible from the board's descendants.

Example of board descendant's posts being counted but last reply isn't being shown.

Permissions
I was thinking that the permission should be available to administrators through the Forum -> Boards -> Settings tab and
have a checkbox named "Enable descendant last post fetching.", "Allow descendant last post fetching." or something similar.

Feature Set
I think the only feature that would be needed is enabling/disabling it unless there's another which would be beneficial.

Arantor:
There is a *reason* why it doesn't go to an arbitrary depth: performance. The code and DB structure are really not optimised for going to an arbitrary depth and more than one significant overhaul is required to make that happen without compromising your forum's performance.

(Note that the board index code is not only called in the board index, which is why it's even more important to get performance right.)

xRJx:
I'm simply making a request for it, I would prefer if no debates/opinions were made as to why it should/shouldn't be made.
Thank you in advance.

Arantor:
And I'm explaining why it's been requested numerous times over the last 5 years and why it will probably never be written.

xRJx:
Something similar to this was already written, I'm asking if someone else can make what I've requested, I'm also well aware
of the implications something like this would cause but isn't it up to those who own a forum to run it how they want?
