Turning off the news box

I want to get rid of the news box. Is there an easy way to do this, or is my only option to hack it out of the theme file?

Just remove all the news items.

Admin -> (Configuration ->) Current Theme
Uncheck "Enable News?"
Save the settings

Ah, thats it. I knew there had to be an option to turn it off somewhere.
