It's there mainly to provide compatibility with postgreSQL.

You should include it anyway, even if MySQL doesn't make use of it because there are users who use PGSQL. (In fact, if the PGSQL implementation were not as unreliable as it has proven to be, I bet more users would use it, especially because it can outperform MySQL when properly used)

If my job allows me to take off the time I want this summer, it should have a beta version soon. I just have to limit myself on what features I want to add in for the beta. This week I've finished menu-button placing and locating for parent, children and grandchildren for pages created. Next I'm working on creating pages for placement in folders outside SMF and in sub-domains.
After that I might just do testing and try to get a beta version out. Those basics are enough for what I need to get my website going.
