This isn't in our to-do-list it would be good in the online manual (After i remove the color and links and make it look professional :P)
If not I'll touch it up again and put it somewhere in the SMF community, and start on some more of the moderation center docs that need touching up.
N. N.:
Nice work :)
Notes:
You can use the large upgrade package, actually. The large upgrade package does not contain Settings.php, thus making it less likely to have it mistakenly overwritten.
For the rest, the installation package contains the install files, in the main directory, and the large upgrade package the upgrade files. Everything else is the same. The upgrade files can be deleted just like you say about the installer files, but they can also be used and nothing wrong should happen.
So I'd say it's easier using the large upgrade package.
You can find many (very very many) topics in the community where the advice to reset SMF is to use the large upgrade package, exactly in order to avoid mistakenly overwriting Settings.php, or because it might be useful in some cases to reset the files and run the upgrade file. (to make sure the database is up to date, too).
Another note:
The instructions remove the mods, sure. However: the database data of the mods, if there were database changes, are preserved (which is usually nice, people can reinstall the mods and find their settings preserved). Also, the mods still appear as installed, which users might not expect.
Just thinking you might want to add it to the document. :)

Thanks for your comments, and i guess that does make sence if their running 1.1.10 to get them to 1.1.11 at the same time.
Also i understand that this does not remove the "Mod junk" from the database, Slammeddime was writing a script to remove the mod junk, but that was over a year ago, and he stop working on this.
--- Quote ---The the following instructions will help reset SMF, but preserve some important information like topics, posts, members, ect. Warning, the following instructions deletes your currently installed mods and uploaded themes. If for any reason a different option might be available ask for support at the 1.1 support board or the 2.0 support board.
* First - Make a Backup! To do this, copy the whole forums directory to a backup directory, or compress to zip format and download it. Now make a backup of the SMF database using PHPmyAdmin. Select all tables and export.
* Second - Download the SMF version large upgrade from the SMF downloads page.
* Third - Open the upgrade package and delete the upgrade.php files. If your using a later version of smf, keep these files and run the upgrade.php to make shore the SMF database is up-to-date.
* Four - Delete everything in the SMF directory except for the settings.php file and the attachments directory.
* Fifth - Upload the upgrade package to the SMF directory and decompress the files. If the SMF version not the same as the upgrade package, run upgrade.php.

Love the idea. :) But let's stick with getting the basic 2.0 docs done for now (spreadsheet). We can come back to this afterward.
