I think I know who Femshep is, I recognise that writing style ;) I couldn't say for certain, but good luck with it! This is the damn best compilation of ideas for a Fork I've seen at all, good luck with it and I'll certainly be watching it!

Indeed. I may be going to use git, however. I haven't really decided and it doesn't really matter to me as long as I get to code and design.

Its always been about this: that a small team follow their dream and perhaps fight among themselves in a healthy way, NEVER to be decided by the supporting team. The support becasme important later on, it should and could not be a key factor DURING the development.

I believe thats a crucial thing to remember. Then you of course can argue WHO should take on something like SMF, since all the first-starters are long gone. Which is why people like Thantos, JayB etc. got to shine too, in getting SMF 2 going. Again, small team. I was lucky too, to work on the graphics and I think SMF was the better for it.

So Github for SMF is not a solution at all IMHO. Unless its not important at all, where SMF is headed. Is it?

Made a few tiny additions to the OP. There's probably more to add but I don't wanna spoil too much.

I haven't started coding any of this stuff yet since, for once, I actually want to plan and thoroughly think this over before I start.

I'm liking it! It looks a bit odd in one or two places, but is definitely a LOT sexier than the standard dialog boxes that pop up. Keep up the good work ;)
