Need Help Coding Already Designed Theme

(1/1)

WhY DoC:
It may be my first post, but i really need some help here.

I know some html and css, but i have no clue on how to start on making a theme for simple machines. I read through some of the help topics but didn't really find anything that pointed me in the right direction.

Im not asking someone to just code me a theme from the picture i made, but it would really help and I would appreciate if someone could
teach me how to code it while helping me code it.

If anyone is even slightly thinking about attempting this task please reply, I wont give any images until someone takes an interest. Please reply, my website is in urgent need of a makeover.

Edit:

I dont plan on adding any kind of php. The only edits to anything in the php would be using html or css to modify the location of the php function to fit the design.

Ex. Moving Searchbar & Login to desired location

Secondly, what I dont understand is where the html and css goes within all the php.

Hello there, and welcome to the SMF Community!

For any creation or modification of themes, you'll need basic PHP knowledge. At the very least, decent understanding of syntax to prevent causing syntax errors.

./Themes/default/index.template.php is the main template file.
./Themes/default/css/index.css is the main CSS file for the default theme.
./Themes/default/images/theme is the main directory for theme images.
