Autopopulate User name for sending PMs

Hello, I had heard that autopopulating usernames when sending PMs is built into SMF so that once you enter a few letters of a member's username it will drop down with a list of possible names.  If that is built in, how do I activate it?  (and if it is not built in is there a mod that will do that?)

You just use it - if it doesn't work, it is because a theme or mod is preventing the JavaScript from working... need more information.

I tried it with the core theme and my current theme and no go.

I don't remember the PM Dropdown ever working but I didn't even know it was a feature until someone helping me with a broken mod asked me if it was still working.
