nend:
Maybe the load can be even out to the mod developers.
Say like a customizer can approve a mod immediately but if it has so many approves by other mod developers then it should be passed. When a developer decides they want to test a new mod they go to a page where a random mod is picked. They can either pass it or review it, if they pass they can only pass for so many times.
Maybe a check list system.
- Code is safe
- Mod runs properly
- No errors

I don't like the mod author so I find all of his mods and vote -20 stars.

In the end, only simple mods will survive. Mod's requiring effort will eventually we removed by confused newbies.

Think about it you now have mods that are showing up even before approval. All a attacker would have to do is upload a few hundred compromised mods under different user names.

I can see it now, the spammers will immediately attack the effective anti-spam mods to eliminate the frustration of being blocked.
If you MUST go with a voting system then do so only with high post count members (ie 1,000+). Though you may still get some politics, you should have less BS.

I don't that's going to help at all to be honest. First I do not think many people will volunteer to do that work and second the pool of people who could do that role is very small not enough people have that knowledge...

Never a truer word spoken. Even when the Cust. team was significantly larger, there was still a backlog because people just weren't taking the time to deal with the queue. That won't change, either.
Runic:
actually the mod que is quite low considering most of time I see it its in single digits, just big mods take time and people update them before messages go out meaning things have to be double checked etc ... now if there was a way to show what changes were made in approval process automatically that be best ... lol
SoLoGHoST:
Yeah, I feel you on that. You could always ask the Mod Developer ofcourse... And perhaps he/she could even track the exact changes. But I suppose that you'd prefer a better way of doing this, without the Mod developer playing a part in this. There are tools online where you can show the difference between 2 files of the same type... For example: http://www.ranks.nl/tools/difference.html (Difference type normal will let you know if any differences exist between the 2 files and if they do, than run the same files using Difference type side_by_side to see the exact differences). You could possibly save yourself time by running files from the copy you have to the last updated package file of the same name.
