Sony tells PlayStation Network users

Sorry, someone's stolen your information

IF you're one of the 70 million people signed up to the PlayStation Network, a criminal knows your name, your address and perhaps even your credit card number...

What? That's ridicolous...

I've bought a lot of online stuff in SERIOUS places and i didn't even get a single issue with spam or things like that.

Not giving personal information to sites like EBay or Amazon is just plain paranoid, now, Sony in the other hand... well, it fails.

Its pretty hard to not give details nowdays online or you miss out on a lot of stuff. You just gotta try weed the idiots out and use reputable as possible sites. Sony hasnt done itself any favours with such a high profile breach and hopefully they get a fine to suit.

Really, with how much information there is available online these days, and how easily accessible it is, with tools to make it even easier, I hate to say, but it's pretty darn hard to remain anonymous, even not entering in a full name or something similar.

I got the email saying my info was stolen. I'm not too worried about it. If things show up, I'll just dispute them...

Well, there are just avenues with which you are going to pick giving out your information and keeping it private.  I think with such systems that are always at risk, you leave very little to be desired to whoever gains access to your account.  But that does not mean that you do not put any identifier as that will also be essential should there be some problem which would arise.
