I just installed SMF 1.1 RC2 but as far as I know it's got plenty of bugs. I can't upgrade to RC3, and I don't know how to get up to 1.1.16 so most of things are fixed.

Anyone got any idea?.

Wow, that's ancient. Why did you just install such an old version? If you don't have it actively running yet, why not remove it and install 1.1.16 (or even better, 2.0.2) from an installation package on this site? If you have been running long enough that you don't want to disturb your current member base, there should be a way to upgrade the existing database to 1.1.16, while you do a "large update" to 1.1.16. From there, you can go to 2.0.2 if you want.

If you installed such an ancient version because that's all your host offers, think about getting a better host, or at least bug them to get up to date with their installables. They should be at PHP 5 and MySQL 5 by now -- if they aren't, they're so behind the times that they're probably going to have a lot of problems with security and stability.
