Move SMF to different URL on same hosting server.

Hello everyone.  I am a newbie to SMF and would appreciate any assistance.  I am trying to move an inherited forum from one domain to another within the same server, but there are a few oddities in my situation.

The original forum address was (originalsite.com/folder/forum). The domain was moved several months ago to another server/hosting account when a new website was launched but the old web files remained on the original server and can be accessed through the IP so we currently access the forum by using the IP (XXX.XX.XXX.XX/folder/forum).

We have a domain where we would like to move the forum to (the new domain would be newsite.com/forum) but the url does not update whether it is changed via the repair_settings.php file or directly in the settings.php file.  I have managed to get the theme, avatars, smileys, sources - basically everything bu the domain to track back to the new domain location.  Also the new domain returns a 404 error when attempting to access the forum.

I also attempted to install a new instance of SMF to the new domain location but received another 404 error when attempting to access the install.php file (newsite.com/forum/install.php).

At this point I have no clue what I am missing here and thank you in advance for any suggestions.

That would mean there is something wrong with your web server configuration. Can we get a link?

Did you clear your forumcache ?
