I recently sent out an annoucement and it also went out to banned members.
Is there a way I can disable this happening in the future because it was easier to do than to send out a general newsletter.

What about moving the banned members to a special membergroup and unchecking that group, when you select the groups that the message is sent to?

In looking at the code for that. It shouldn't be doing that as there is a filter in place so that announcements shouldn't get sent to banned members.

If you have a member id. Look in the members table for the is_activated column. It should be at 11 if the member id banned.
