When people fill out the join forum application they become members automatically,  How do i set the applications to admin approval only & notify acceptance by email.

Admin > Registration > Settings > Member approval

You wont get an email until the member is activated, but most themes have text that pops up and says that there are users awaiting activation.

Then go to Admin > Members > Awaiting Activation > Activate and send email
