Retrieving Category and Board Names

(1/2) > >>

StormChaser83:
I backed up all of my files from the public_html folder before closing down my site. Now, i am wanting to re-open it under a different domain name. I'm not too worried about keeping all of the posts or database tables. . . . Is there any possible way i could find out the names of my category and boards by looking under a file in the backup that i created?

MovedGoalPosts:
Any detail of the board names, categories, and even post content is part of your database, not the html (actually they are mostly php) files.

So, i'm pretty much screwed then?  That's nice. . LOL. . . . I thought when i did the back up, it would back up the databases, too. .

When you backup your files on your server it wont backup the database so unless you have taken a database backup you wont be able to get that information back. Have a look at the below article for future reference.
