You probably transferred your attachements in ASCII format.  I did the same thing.  Since the image name are encrypted and do not contain a .jpg/.gif/.png extension etc, the FTP program interprets them as ASCII files and ruins them in transit.  The solution is to force a BINARY file transfer.  What a pain in the butt.  Anyway, that's how I solved my problem.  If you still have an archive of your old attachments directory (one that resides in its original binary form) then you should be able to recover the images.

Thanks for that, yes it actually worked for me after changing the file transfer to BINARY on the attachment directory.....cheers
