What happens if you add a file from default theme to custom theme?

(1/3) > >>

Groovystar:
I noticed my site's default theme has many more files than all my custom themes. If I copy one of those files from the default theme to one of the custom theme and then start adjusting it, would that give me more control over that custom theme?

Just asking because I want to be able to adjust the language files more on my custom themes but not sure if this is the way to do it. I don't want to break anything.

Arantor:
Generally, yes, if a custom theme does not have a given template, it will load the one from the default theme.

Language files however are a different kettle of fish entirely and do not necessarily work that way. Exactly what are you trying to achieve?

Groovystar:
I have my themes' language files themed to the subject of whatever roleplay that board is designated for, so on some of the boards they don't really fit. I want to change the language settings only on those boards.

Arantor:
OK, let me make this more plain.

What language strings, exactly and specifically, do you want to change? I need to know specifically which ones because some of them might be able to be done, some of them might need a lot more engineering to work how you want.

Groovystar:
From what I can recall, things like the word "members" currently it's changed to "Warriors" on my main themes but I have boards that aren't Warriors-related so want to make it other things on those.
