Customizing SMF > Forks Discussion
How can I acquire 2RC2 from its owner?
AngelinaBelle:
I hope you won't mind that I've split this discussion about whether or not earlier versions of SMF can be forked.
Kindred:
I did actually answer your question, although I suppose the statement "There are no "hoops"" could have been more clear.
Let me make my statement more clear.
Aside from maintaining the previous agreements we have with some hosts and other groups, we will not be granting anyone license rights to fork or otherwise redistribute any version of SMF prior to the BSD release of 2.0 final. (although you can make whatever changes you want to your own system...)

Then change the topic on this thread because whomever forked this thread gives the impression that I asked the question pertaining to which versions can be forked. I asked no such question, I have no interest in such a question, and I resent that anyone put my name to a question I did not ask.
I wish to acquire 2RC2 and the owner is who I desire to talk to, not some more SMF nay-sayers. Put me in contact with the owner.
=============
Nevermind, I did the edit myself. Don't ever assign my name to a topic I didn't start. Ever. You might have a license to move posts around and claim ownership of content you didn't write, but you do NOT have my permission to put my name on topics I didn't author.
Illori:
all the team members are members of the NPO which owns the copyright which have answered your question. also Kindred is the president of the NPO who also answered your question. you will not get permission in anyway shape or form to fork RC2.

So friggin what? For the umpteenth gazillionth time: I don't want to fork 2RC2. I want ownership. You're saying it's not for sale, as a spokesperson for the group.
How about you guys put it to a vote first to determine if everybody agrees before you speak on their behalf.
