Ten Things Most Americans Don’t Know About America.

Ha ha, now that was funny.  The funniest part was when they asked the woman to name a country that starts with U and than they said, how about this one, and she was like... huh??  And than they told her... United States of America... lmfao!!!

Just finished watching. That is a big false portrayal of how Americans are. I have to wonder if this thing was rehearsed.

SoLoGHoST:
Honestly, there are a lot of stupid Americans, I'm one of them.  So what!  Someone once said, the first step to true wisdom is knowing that you know nothing!  Or something like that...

The truth is, there is much to do and very little time.  We are learning something new each and everyday.  I could honestly care less about war, and learning all about who is fighting a war.  Call it ignorance or whatever you want to call it.  It just doesn't concern me.  Much like sports!  The only reason I know anything about sports, is because that is the only thing the people I work with all day talk about.  Miami Heat won, yeahhh, Lebron James is Awesome!  Tim Tebow plays for Jesus, but they dogged him and signed him up with a Good For Nothing NY Team.  Philadelphia Phillies suck this year because of Ryan Howard being injured, etc. etc. etc..  Seems to be the only thing on anyone's mind at work...  Sports, sports, and more sports...

This whole topic is just a little lame. It seems to me that someone got up on the wrong side of the bed and just decided to bash  Americans. There are stupid people in every country of the world.

There are also people in every country of the world who think they are much smarter than they actually are. For proof of this, just read comments posted on this site.

We all think our movies, books, actors, etc., are the best. We don't like things from other countries because that is not what we are used to. It doesn't make us stupid (us meaning people from any country).

Arantor:
Oh there are stupid people in every country. The point the article author was making, though, is that he feels the Americans do not take on board the fact that America is not necessarily the best at everything.

That's just it: we don't. The British people in this thread are fully aware that Britain is surprisingly poor in a lot of ways. It isn't about what we are used to, it is about understanding that different nations have different strengths and being respectful of other nations' strengths and weaknesses, something that the article's author feels Americans are not.

I think I'm fairly safe in saying that you're considering me one of those, especially knowing the conversations we've had in the past. Interesting, but unrelated to the question at hand.

No, but being narrow-minded and even possibly a little xenophobic probably qualifies.
