Simple Machines looks great!

Hello everyone... I'm new to the forum.
I'm testing the waters and starting my own forum and am giving Simple Machines a try. I'm impressed that another forum I'm on (Kindle Boards) uses Simple Machines and I know that site does well.
My first goal is to figure out how to get SEO friendly urls to work on Hostgator. Anyone else on Hostgator know how to do so?

Welcome to the site, first off I would advise you too stay away from hostgater, they are a known overseller and you can come into many problems with them. If you haven't already bought hosting, have a look in the Hosts, Hosting and Commercial Services for some more reliable alternatives.
With regard to the friendly urls, there has been many of discussions about these and it's generally accepted that the friendly urls wont have much if any impact on your search result rankings. The main thing to look after is you're site and forum content, the more regular and specific content to you're site/forum topics the better.
