Hello SMF Expert,

I installed my SMF forum about 2 months ago on my GoDaddy hosting account.  I created three users to test  the forum with and played with themes.

Then I decided I have to learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP to really get the look I want.

I came back to my forum site yesterday and found I had 20470 Posts with 69 members.  All the posts are about selling medical drugs.

I am just curious how this could happen with the Captchas in place.

Hello cations,

if you search this board (or the entire forum) you'll find out that capthca is pretty much useless.
Bots solve captcha more efficiently than human beings, so if you want to protect your forum from spammers you can have a look at this page on the wiki that list the most common ways to reduce spammers. ;)

Thank you for your responses.  I didn't get an email notification so I didn't think anyone responded. I thought I had the setting set for email notifications.

It says it's version 2.02 at the bottom of the page.

It sounds like your forum just got spammed with bots.. not hacked...

Then you should look into installing some anti-spam mods. Here are 4 that has basically killed any spam for me.
