MySQL Password?

(1/2) > >>

scuc:
I have MySQL available on my host and have created 2 production databases on it - also, am comfortable with PHP (tell you this so you know where stand knowledge wise).

When I go through the install using the webinstall package I have not problem until I get to the question about the 'database password' - on my platform (shared server), when you create the DB you are NOT asked for a password - you create a user with and grant all the privs to him.

So, in short, there is not DB password, just a user with all privs - when in install ask for a DB password the user one I created does not work - nor does any others!

Any help here?

Thank

Did you contact your host?

scuc:
Yes, and as it is a 'shared server' the 'root' password is not available - all accounts are created with the account name (dnicho1_) and the DB name (in this case 'sfm').  Can a file be etited to remove this field/check?  I really want to use this product for our franchises but just can't get by this step.

Did you try to leave the password field empty ?

By the way, I.ve never seen the possibility to add a user without the option to give a password for the new user.
If you realy don't have this possibility your provider is the only one that can answer this question.

I tend to think that the database has a password, try with the one you use to log into the admin panel at your host.
