Restoring an old database (1and1)

Hello all!

Back in 2007, I had an SMF forum that was administered by another person. Digging through some files, I've found the restore files and would like to resurrect it to see what's recoverable.

I've scoured all over 1and1's phpmyadmin site and I can't find a way to create a database with a custom name (1and1 automatically generates one).  Based on what I've read, that's a serious roadblock, so does anyone know a way around this?

Do they have CPanel?

If so, you might be able to import it from CPanel>Files>Backups.

Thanks for the welcome! =)

Unfortunately, 1and1 does not use cPanel. I'm tempted to use another hosting solution's free trial in order to use cpanel and get this thing up and running. :(

A friend of mine used 1&1 for...ooo... about a week.

He gave up, after that. :(

Oddly enough, I recall this being an issue the last time I had a forum using 1and1... but, again, I wasn't running it so I didn't really care.  ;D

In any event, there's gotta be a way to do this, it wouldn't make sense for 1and1 to have it so you can't choose the name of your own database!
