SMF Support > Install and Upgrade Help
Just a little advise needed about an upgrade
(1/1)
higherauthority:
I am using SMF 2.02 Now and was using a few mods that I just don't care for anymore. I want to put the latest on however several mods will not "Uninstall correctly" At this point I just want to upgrade to the latest SMF with NO mods. My main goal is to get rid of all the mods that were added throughout many years.
Can I use the FULL install
or do I need the large package that says
"Using modifications, or not using SMF 2.0.1? No problem, this is what you need."
I noticed some strange behavior due to older files this is why I want to start fresh. I have thousands of members and posts etc. So I will be using the existing database. Any advise would be great. Thanks in advance

Go ahead but first make backup and do large update. Just uninstall whatever mod you have, then upgrade, you can simply delete all files apart of Settings.php and go for upgrade. You will have almost fresh installation apart of few traces of older mods in db which may remain there but should not hurt at all.
PS: 2.0.2 is latest, not even 2.02 which doesn't exist.
