Customizing SMF > SMF Coding Discussion
Hidden text! Bug?
Kindred:
it is discouraged... or at least it was.
Apparently, ADK has started doing it (possibly in an update after the mod was submitted)
I think it is idiotic... As I said, I have checks that run on my servers looking for crap like that, since no valid SMF files use that (and it's a favorite method of hackers who try to stop you from finding and removing their code)
every time I install and ADK mod, I have to track down the stupid and change it to plain text some of them are even "hidden" in other, inobvious, files....
I wouldn't even bother using their mods at all... except for the fact that ADK is the only group with some of the functions that I want.
The Hero:
Wow kindred, you solved it, very nice job. It is kind of strange that they would go through all the trouble of encrypting their copyright. Anyways thanks for capitalizing it for me, I think this should work just fine ;D. I'll keep you updated. You all seem to really know your php, if you ever have any java questions, just ask :).
Arantor:
Why isn't it in the rules to avoid obfuscating code?
There is no good reason to have code obfuscated like that.
Kindred:
You got me, arantor... You're right, there is no good reason, and, as I said, when I use one of the ad mods, I have to track it down and unencrypt it...
But, since I'm not on the team anymore, you'd have to ask the lead customizer, suki.
