Favourite desktop programming language
Jeff Lewis:
I am still debating what I think is the most useful language to move forward with at my blog http://blog.hyrum.net and am curious if there are any desktop programmers here with an opinion on this.
I like a fantastic IDE (I liked VB 4 and 5 for example), a great help system (VB 4 and 5, I hated VB 6's), good database support, size of distribution etc.

I like depli, its kind of like something between the power of C++ and the simplicity of VB.
Jeff Lewis:
What do you like about Delphi?
۞:
I like it because I know how to use it quite well :P
Though learning wise, I find it hard to find good tutorials online.
Michele:
I still use VB5 Pro occasionally and it has excellent db support as long as you want to use an Access .mdb file. It can use others, but I've never tried that.
And you're right, the IDE is so easy to use! It's major downside is the size of the distribution, although if you assume everyone now has the proper DLLs on their system, you can cut down the size a bit.
Have fun, Michele
