The forum is a really busy one and I cannot afford to upgrade to 2.0.2 without making sure everything will function OK.

This is why I set up the test bed. As it is advised by SMF not to have two databases with the same prefix I followed that instruction when setting up the test one.  Believing that when I imported the original backed up database that it would overwrite it.

it isn't "not advised", it's simply impossible to have two databases with the same prefix

you can always change your prefix in your settings.php, although I don't really think this is what you're after
