How to change New Posts/No New Posts Buttons to Custom Buttons

(1/2) > >>

Ciuineas:
Hello -

I have limited coding knowledge... learning as I go.  I am attempting to change the New Posts / No New Posts buttons to custom buttons on my forum.

Could someone advise me where I go in cpanel to upload the button images and then where I go specifically to make the image change.

Thank you.

ARG:
Those would be located in the images folder. (Themes/inferno_20/images)

You will need to change:

on.png
on2.png
off.png
redirect.png
new_some.png
new_none.png
new_redirect.png

Make sure that your new images are in png format and named the same as the old images. Just overwrite your old images with your new images.

there is a simple way that i did this, but it takes allot of focus.
If you understand this well, you can practically change any visual element on your site to whatever you want.

1.Go to the original downloaded folder on your desktop,
Or extract the downloaded file so you can see the folders contents.

2. go to the images folder within the main folder your looking through.

3.you may notice now that you are seeing many types of icons within different folders.

4.find the icon you want to change on the site by looking for it in the folder on your computer.

5.when you find it, you will be able to open it up in photoshop, and you will then have the perfect size of the image, and you can change it to whatever you want.

6.once finished you can do two things: Save and over write the original file,
or give it the same exact name but add a "0" or "1" (recommended)

7. now head on over to your hosting account, go to where all of your website content is located, and look up that same folder and image the same exact way you did on your desktop.

8.when you find it in your hosting, upload your new edited image in the same place.

9. once uploaded, you can delete the original file off your hosting,
then simply "rename" your new file by deleting the extra "0" or "1" off the name.

10. the trick is to keep the exact name of the original files so the css code will read it properly.
aslong as you keep everything the same name as its original, you can practically change ANY element, EVEN the extension, as long as you rename it with the original file your replacing.

(you can even replace a PNG file with a GIF file, just as long as you change the extension too .PNG once its in your hosting.
if the css see what its looking for, it will display no matter what it is, as long as it has the same name)

i edited my whole site this way with the inferno theme, check it out:
