BBC Panel Is Not Showing Up\Post Box Is Extending Past Border

(1/1)

ibanez6:
Hey everyone!

My name is Randy and I'm new to the forum\SMF in general. I am starting a forum at "bcmetal" ".ca" and have run across a couple problems. I had everything working properly and as of last night assigned a new domain name to my hosting package. (I'm not able to post the actual link at this point due to forum restrictions).

The problem...

When I post or edit a topic, the BBC panel is not showing up and the post box allows the characters to extend past the border. (Text does not wrap). This was working fine before I switched my domain name last night. I am using the same database and files that I was using last night and have even re-installed the theme I am using (Hale_On2.0) and made sure the original index.css file is being used. (And everything else).

I should mention that I have experience with web design, but this is my first attempt at running a forum. My domain\hosting provider is Dotster. BBC is turned on in the admin settings.

I am happy to provide any information needed to help find a solution. I have created a test account with the following information:

Name: test
Password: Temp1234

I appreciate any help I can get!
Cheers!

It could be that the domain name being applied does not equate to the paths on your hosting package that you set the forum up with originally. Run repair settings to check the paths.

What is repair_settings.php?

Also, you need to wait at least 72 hours for the DNS to be replicated around all the servers, so again this might point to a paths issue.

Thank you so much for your reply and showing me that repair tool! Some of the paths were indeed pointing towards my old domain. The problem has now been resolved!

Excellent! Glad you've sorted it and all is well. Happy to have helped.

Marking topic as solved.
