Session/cookie problem?
« on: April 18, 2008, 03:51:27 AM »
I have a test install of the current version of SMF 2 public beta.
The v2 forum consists of a phpbb forum I converted in a v1 install, which was then upgraded to the public beta.

Things seem to be working well, but one member writes about this problem she is having:

Quote
Total time logged in: 10 minutes.

The following error or errors occurred while posting this message:
Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message.

Also tried changing profile to classic smileys and got this message:

An Error Has Occurred!
Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

So then I click on logout, and all that happens is I get the same error message again

I suggested she delete cookies, which she did, but the problem remains.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Thanks

Neil A.

Have hear clear all her cookies again and clear her cache.

Is she the only one having problems?

Thanks Fiery,

She's the only one reporting problems (but this is only a demo site, not in full use yet).

She reckons she cleared her cookies and it made no diff. Dunno if if she cleared the cache...
Will check.

Thanks.

Also,

If you really want to you could change cookie names.

Let us know when she gets back to you.

Thanks for the help guys... problem resolved.

I questioned the user more carefully and asked what browser she was using and she replied:
"BT Yahoo browser" (she's in England).

I suggested trying with plain old IE, and all worked fine. I suggested she d/l Firefox and can whatever "BT Yahoo" have done to her system. ;-)

Cheers
