Advice/Help Needed For New Community

(1/1)

Etcher:
Hello, I recently started a community called TeenDev for aspiring developers (programmers, designers, etc).
The forum is mostly for young developers to come together and talk, as well as collaborate on projects.
I'm having trouble attracting users and having them participate in the forums. Also, I notice that guests tend to come around but never actually register.
Can you guys give me any advice? Thanks.

Old Fossil:
Have a look at the many themes available.

Also have a look at www.pixelmansion.com for themes, badges, banners, avatars etc

The chat should be open for guests too IMO.

Have a look at http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=360150.0

This little gem adds your posts automatically to twitter and facebook.

Get an anti spam such as Bad behaviour if you haven't already.

Thanks for the advice. I actually quite like the default Curve theme because it's light, simple, and clean. One thing I would like though is to move the Chat button next to Home. Is there an easy way to rearrange the nav buttons like that?

Old Fossil:
In the subs.php file you could try and move the chat section of code below the home button.

It mnay or may not work.

(If you do try it backup first).
