Newbie Seeking Features and Themes Suggestions

Hi there, I am a newbie in the forum scene and have just started off with a fresh installation of SMF.
I have a few questions that I can't seem to make up my mind, I'm really hoping some gurus could provide me with some advice.  ;D

1) Is it recommended to run wordpress alongside with SMF? Since articles will be posted on the forum would running a blog be advisable? My concern would be duplicate contents if they are posted on both platforms.

2) Is it advisable to run SMF on a subdomain or subfolder? I currently have SMF installed on the root domain. I'm thinking of expandability in the future.

3) I'm planning to add a link directory sometime soon in the future, is there an addon readily available for SMF?

4) Can anyone suggest any responsive themes like the 'embed theme' from Vanillaforums?

Appreciate any help from the community. Thanks in advance.

In answer to your questions.

1. It can be done and some users ( myself included) have them integrated.

2. Unable to answer personally.

3. This can be done in several ways.

4. Depends on which version smf you are using ie 1.1.x or 2.0.2
