Noob question: integrating website login with forum login
dkst0426:
I'm fairly new here, and this is probably a really elementary question, but I'm stumped anyway, so any help I can get would be great.
I have a website that I'm getting ready to launch. Part of it is an SMF forum. The forum is set up and good to go, but I just realized that the website (made using Plesk Sitebuilder) also has an option to create a registration page. My question is how do I go about integrating the login so that once someone logs into the website, they are logged into the forum? I don't have to have the login on the website, but for what I'm doing, the members ought to appreciate the added level of privacy.
Kindred:
why not use SMF's authentication instead?
SSI allows the use of all sorts of SMF functions and security.
ssi_login()
check out the SSI functions in the wiki and on your own site in ssi_examples.php

Dumb question: how do I go about checking out the SSI?
Kindred:
goto your forum site, but instead of index.php, use ssi_examples.php

I would also like to integrate smf with my yii framework software..
My first concern are the cookies both softwares create for logged in users.
And maybe unifying user tables in database.
Anyone?
