Sending e-mail to set locations

  Hello I am wondering if there is a way for the admin to send a message to everyone on the forum that lives in a set location to notify them about events in there area?

  I am using V2.0.2

Not based on any location field. It's only possible without modifing SMF to send messages based on membergroups.

 You are saying I should make a membergroup for each of the area's to be able to send message's to just that area? Also someone told me in V1.0 you could send message's to everyone in a area if they listed it, I was just wondering if this was going to be available in 2.0?

Nope, that's not true of any version, at least not built in.

Most of the problem is that the location facility is free-format, users can type in what they like, which means it won't work properly for sending messages if, say, someone made a typo. Or someone put in something random while trying to be funny.

If it has been done, 1) it isn't built in and 2) I doubt it'll be very reliable.
