Okay, as far as hiding the board... currently this is not exactly an option.

However, you can use a bug in the current beta to get approximately what you want: this is, you create the board as a child of another board, but make sure the parent board has restricted access.  Diagram:

The Parent Board (admin only, for example)
   - The News Board (everyone)

Currently, we haven't decided *what* should be done in this case, so it doesn't show either board on the board index.  But it will show the category they are in.

You can set permissions for posting topics in boards, and you can limit those permissions so that only a certain group of members can post new topics, or post replies, or even report posts to moderators.

Ok well it doesn't really need to be hidden I guess. Now I have a problem, We just converted from YaBBSE 1.55 or whatever the last release was.
I am having trouble with your permissions you talk about unless I'm doing something wrong.
When I click modify next to guests or anyone I am getting:
An Error Has Occurred!
The board you specified doesn't exist

Is this a bug in conversion screwing the MySQL structure? Or is this me not clicking on something prior to modify? Whats the deal?

[Unknown]:
No, ignore that.  Go at it from the permissions interface - the interface is not done yet, and the board management interface is not properly tied with the permissions yet.

Rothgar:
Er that would limit all the guests from all boards though? This is a split forum and I just want it for my news board. Does this mean I have to wait for the forum permissions to be fixed? If so how longs that going to be?
~Rothgar

[Unknown]:
Look in the bottom section, and click "Local" next to one of the boards.
