I need some basic Help

Okay,
       I would first like to thank you for the time you will spend reading this, and maybe even helping me solve some of my issues. I currently just created my first forums for my gaming clan called GOAT ( Greatest of all Time). It was extremely easy to set up, and to make basic changes to website, such as background settings, ect. I am unable how ever to change the home of the forums. Such as lets say the home to this website you are able to post important updates, or events. I'm not sure if those are one of the perks you need to pay for or what. I'm also having troubles with the forums. Two things being when creating the website it gives you the "General Forums" it also has a message under it saying "Default forum for your board. You can edit this text via the admin button." I would like to know if you are able to change that message. My last question is when going to the forums, lets use this website as an example again it has different topics on the forums like General forums, Information, Updates, Ect. Again am i able to make those? Or is that again a perk you get from buying credits.

The front page thing that you want is the kind of thing a portal will do. Have a look at these:

I, myself, use Simple Portal.

With the message, if I've understood correctly, you need to go to Admin>Boards and fiddle around, there. (It should be easy enough to figure-out. If not, post back)

You last question is answered by saying "Each section is known as a "Category".

You create a category and then create boards, within those categories.
