Arantor:
Let me get this straight, your members complain about not being able to download something they uploaded, but they don't even have 5 posts? Seems to me that's a very narrow window in which to have a problem...

I understand where you're coming from, I just find it hard to understand why users are too lazy to go through their own files for a file they have, as opposed to going to a website to re-get something they already have.

I already did shed some light, not a lot, because I'm firmly convinced the work required far exceeds any real practical benefit from it. 5 posts is really not a lot, it's not like you're asking them to spend more than a few minutes contributing back to your community for something that is, essentially, a convenience factor for them because they can't be bothered to look through their own computer.

ChalkCat:
Why not just set a minimum post count of 5 on posting attachments as well, then there isn't an issue  ;)

Because doing so may stop users from possibly posting in the first place. As a forum admin you want to make it as easy as possible for users to contribute.

@Liam -- When I get some free time today and tomorrow I will work on this for you.

Thank you, Colin.

@Arantor: I mentioned 5, but it's actually more than 5 in certain boards (5 was just an example).
